TAMPA: Help for Scammed Homeowner
We know how important it is to find reliable contractors you can trust. However, sometimes bad things happen to good people. Danise Hegerty is a good person who knows she didn’t do all her homework before she hired. Now she needs help, and we’re inviting highly-rated service providers in the Tampa area to join our Wishmakers program.
“I admit, I was a fool,” Hegerty said when recalling her choice to give a $41,000 deposit to a contractor she believed was reputable. The funds were to be used to remodel her 672 square foot Seffner, FL home.
After being displaced from the house for months it was clear to Hegerty that the job was not going to get done. A utility room to house the hot water heater was never completed, so the unit remains outside in the elements.
Now, three years and thousands of dollars later, we’re hoping to help restore Hegerty’s trust in top-quality contractors and complete the work she was promised.
Are you able to donate your time and or materials to help with any of the following projects?
- Construct a utility room to house a washer/dryer and hot water heater
- Install pantry cabinets
- Re-configure kitchen cabinets
- Screen door for front door
- Finish covers on the porch columns
